Blair Waldorf: How She Made the Headband Cool Again

Perhaps Gossip Girl's most influential takeaway is the impact it has had on helping to shape people's style and exposing us to some great designers out there. I would be hard pressed to find an episode were I didn't fall in love with one of Blair's outfits and I know many were just as equally inspired by Serena's character.

I know there have been a lot of other great style mavens on the show such as Lily, Jenny, Vanessa and Georgina to name a few, but personally I have been influenced most by its two leading ladies and most prominently by Queen B herself.

Since the show is ending in just a few days, I wanted to take this chance to highlight some of my favorite Blair looks from the show (I'll give Serena her own post later this week). Blair Waldorf made the headband cool again, as well as more ladylike sillouttes. She also has the most envious coat collection on the face of the earth. I love bright ladylike coats and I would love to raid her closet.

I've Got the Christmas Itch

Are anyone else's spirits totally lifted during the Holiday season. Even though it is stressful and full of events every night of the week (minimizing the hours you are actually sleeping), I find that I am instantly uplifted at the sound of Christmas music.

I try to keep a pretty strict policy of not listening to any Christmas music before Thanksgiving, but after that I cannot get enough of it. Since I was the driver for the Vegas trip, I subjected my car passengers (Dan, Heather and Kathryn) to hours of Christmas tunes, sometimes feeling the need to belt it out. While this may have been torture for some, I was driving so I had radio control!

I cannot fathom how people say they don't like some jazzy holiday tunes. I have a few hours worth of music on my iPhone ranging from Classical Pops to N*Sync's Christmas album. Anyone in their twenties/early thirties should remember when that gem of a record was released.

I am looking forward to another 2 weeks of holiday hits especially since my family loves Christmas music as much as I do (Dan may be suffering - but he knows what he married into to).

If I had to pick one Christmas album to listen to over and over again, it would have to be the Harry Connick Harry for the Holidays Christmas CD. We saw him in concert for Christmas a few years ago and I just love his voice and his songs. Of course a close second is any Rat Pack Christmas CD.

The End of Gossip Girl

I cannot believe there is only one episode left in the series Gossip Girl. I have found that I watch the show not only for the drama and the oodles of amazing clothes, but because it makes me a little nostalgic. I went to a private high school in New York City and used to walk across the street to the Met as students. I remember when the Gossip Girl books came out (my sister read some of them) and I thought, wow another way to make the private school kids look bag and I never agreed to read the books, but I will admit that I the show soon became my guilty pleasure.

While I attended an all girls school, we too had a brother school and tried to find ways to rebel against our school uniform, but in comparison our lives were relatively tame. We spent time at the Amity Diner, took coach buses to soccer games, and spent our weekends going out (but not to the same scale of locale that Blair and Serena seem to hit up).

While me and my friends were never at Blair and Serena status, there are similarities to the way they handled themselves (just at much lower price points). We carried Longchamp bags for backpacks and rocked headbands with our uniforms.

I think I will miss Blair and Chuck's scheming the most when the show ends next Monday night. And the New York City references that are scattered throughout the show. I find myself not only nostalgic for high school but my hometown as well.

BTW, anyone excited about finally seeing Gossip Girl on screen???
