Sometimes all you need to punch up an outfit is a great pop of color. I love wearing bright shoes. Some of my favorites are my hot pink pointy toe flats from Kate Spade last year and my bright red flats Kiki flats from J.Crew.

Tuesday #Shoesday: Pregnancy Staples
Number one rule? FLATS! Anything flat and padded gets an extra bonus in my book. I am at the stage where being comfortable with my shoes rules supreme. But that doesn't mean I still can't look cute! What are some of your favorite, really comfortable flat styles that you can recommend a pregnant lady with sore feet? #preggoproblems

Tuesday #Shoesday: Ski Trip
With our annual family ski trip upon us, Tuesday #Shoesday is all about what shoes you should pack for your annual trip. Even though I can't ski this year, I am excited to explore the town. I'll be able to snowshoe, explore town and relax by the fire. Since snow is to be expected, focus on packing shoes that are snow appropriate like Sorels and booties.

Tuesday #Shoesday: Closet Essentials
Salvatore Ferragamo blue flat / Frye vintage shoes / Tory burch shoes / Diane Von Furstenberg leather shoes, $265
There are a few essentials every closet needs. I am a huge fan of shoes so I will admit that I have way more than just these essentials. But these four pairs of shoes can carry you through any outfit.
1. Neutral heels.
They instantly elongate your legs and go with absolutely everything in your closet. Take a page out of the Duchess's playbook and embrace the nude pump.
2. Flats.
Pick a color that goes with everything, like this navy pair. Also invest in comfort here. You will get hundreds of miles more out of your flats if they are super comfortable.
3. Neutral sandals.
Flip flops are great for the beach but other than that, a nice sandal goes a long way. They can be dressed up or down and look more polished than any flop. Go in a neutral tone so you can wear them with lots of different outfits.
4. Riding Boots.
Go for black or brown so they are good for any look. Riding boots are classic and in a flat you can use wear them all day long. I love my pair from Frye that I got a few years ago and they only get better with age.

Tuesday #Shoesday: Bean Boots
Defintely on my wish list for Christmas are a pair of bean boots. I would love them for the fall and spring, especially when we are back east and my winter boots are too heavy. I love the classic navy and brown leather pair from Sperry. Preppy and practical.

Tuesday #Shoesday: Riding Boots
Riding boots are a staple to any Fall wardrobe. I spent such a long time hunting down the right pair and now that I finally have them, I know I won't be needing another pair a very long time. Usually a more expensive pair of shoes, they are definitely an investment piece, but they will last you much longer than most shoes if you take good care of them. My mom still has her Frye boots from the 1970s and they look as good as ever.

Tuesday #Shoesday: Booties
Today I am starting a special Tuesday #Shoesday series for the month of October around my favorite fall boots. Today's focus is the bootie. My favorite of all boot options, the bootie is perfect for those of us that have more athletic calves. I am also loving the peep toe bootie trend lately. It seems like a perfect compromise in the warmer climates of Southern California.

Tuesday #Shoesday Kitten Heels
This week's #Shoesday is all about the kitten heel. I love a good 3 inch heel, but kitten heels are so much more practical for work. Some of my favorite kitten heels are from Ivanka Trump, Kate Spade and Sole Society. They are ladylike while still allowing me to be on my feet, running around all day.

Tuesday #Shoesday: Sightseeing
With all the sightseeing we are doing these days, it is essential to have great footwear. Something comfortable that you can go all day in. These are my favorite picks and all shoes I have with me on my trip, so they are serving every purpose I have.
Converses for heavier walking days, Sperry Top Siders for days when the weather may be wet or walking is more minimal, flat sandals like these from J.Crew in a neutral color like navy for hot days or nicer meals out, and Nike Frees for days with physical activity or exercise. What is your go to sightseeing shoe?

Tuesday #Shoesday Summer Wedges
Wedges are my go to shoe, especially in the summer months. They are great for dancing the night away at a wedding (much more sturdy than heels), easy to slip off at the beach and elongate your legs so much more than flats. Above are my favorite wedges for this summer season. I think it's all about nautical stripes, golden tones, pinks and mints. Are you a wedge fan? What's your favorite brand?

Tuesday #Shoesday: Square Dance Gear
Frye boots / Tory Burch leather shoes / New Balance The Made in USA National Parks 990 Sneaker in Blue
My family's annual square dance is this weekend and were checking out the weather to see if it is going to be warm compared to last year's rain and snow. It is an annual party my parent's host at their house in upstate New York, complete with softball game, barbecue and an actual square dance band. The first square dance was for my parents' 40th birthdays but now has become more of a party for my sister and my friends.
You need a bunch of different footwear for the day including sandals for the warm weather, sneakers for the kids vs. adults softball game (not sure how we all still classify as kiddos) and of course my Frye cowboy boots for the big dance. More on the party to follow on the blog next week! Stay tuned!

Tuesday #Shoesday: Beach Day
This week's post is all about shoes for the beach. Living so close to the sand, I have discovered that you want a shoe that is easy to slip on and off when hitting the beach. Sandals with straps can be a pain as you have to find a way to get them off while balancing on sand. These espadrilles from Tory Burch are a great alternative to flip flops or other sandals if you want to keep your feet a bit cleaner. I really like all these sandal options from the classic leather Rainbow sandals to the reemergence of Birkenstocks to these cute Charlotte Russe sandals at a steal!

Tuesday #Shoesday: Crutch Friendly
Friday was a little crazy in that I ended up having a repeat knee surgery after I re injured my medial meniscus. A little over two weeks ago I went in for a followup appointment (my year checkup from my ACL injury) and was complaining of some pinching in my knee. After X-rays and an MRI it was determined last Thursday that I had a tear in my medial meniscus.
When my doc asked me when I wanted to get it fixed, I replied ASAP and as luck would have it, he had a cancellation for the following day and I jumped on it. Now I need to focus on good shoes for my crutches that are still cute. Sandals that are locked in, Sperry's, smoking slippers and flats are all great options. I love these platinum Sperry's, these J.Crew navy sandals and both the J.Crew Factory anchor smoking slippers and butterfly flats. You get over wearing sneakers pretty soon!

Tuesday #Shoesday: The Perfect Festival Shoes
Since last weekend and this coming weekend are continual music festivals out here in California, this week's #Shoesday is all about the perfect shoe for a music festival. I usually like to wear a structured sandal because they keep you cool but are cute as well, but sometimes in the dusty bowl of Indio a great pair of converse sneakers make much more sense. What footwear do you rock for a music festival?

Tuesday #Shoesday: Shoe Storage
While I currently do not have the master walk in closet of my dreams, I do have a pretty great full wall closet that has an upper shelf where I can stack all my shoes in clear shoe boxes from the Container Store. I love that they keep all my shoes clean while still allowing me to see what is in each box. The boxes are just around $1 a box and have been absolutely worth the investment. I also use them under the sinks in my bathrooms for storage and keeping everything organized by need. Still a girl could dream about closets like these. How do you store and highlight your amazing shoes?

Tuesday #Shoesday: Love of Sandals
Living in California, I realize I basically live in sandals all the time. Even at work during the summer months, I find myself in wedges in sandal styles. While I also have my share of rainbow leather flip flops, I love a more structured sandal day to day because they are less beach and more delicate. I just got these Sam Edelman jeweled flats and I am obsessed. They are beautiful and will be great for all our spring and summer weddings!
