I love Game Night. It's one of my favorite Friday night activities, especially since after a long week at work, game night is right up my alley in terms of speed. It may be a sign of getting older, but I like a more relaxed Friday, whether it's dinner and a movie or games with friends. Here are just a few of my favorite games.
Cranium One of my favorite family games. It is great to play with a range of ages since you can play on a team and it really allows for creativity. My husband's family loves this game and we played a ton over Christmas.
Settlers of Catan Nerdy yes, but so much fun. Settlers could easily be the love child of Monopoly and Risk. We play this constantly with my dad and sister. We have converted them. It takes a game or two at first to like it, but then you can't get enough. Also it has a ton of expansion packs so you can continually create new ways to play.
Apples to Apples/Cards Against Humanity A great party game for a large group, Apples to Apples is more family friendly than the more politically incorrect Cards Against Humanity, but both have some pretty inappropriate cards. Apples to Apples has more variety than Cards does. It also has less trump cards than Cards does. Still both are really fun and guarantee laughter.
Game of Things This is like a more personalized version of Apples or Cards. You can write in the answers for Game of Things, which results in advantages if you know your competitors better than the others. This is a much harder game to play with strangers, so I recommend this more with a good group of friends or family.
