Bumpdate: Week 28 Q&A

Bumpdate: Week 28

Baby's Size: An Eggplant

Gender: A girl. Her initials are KC!

How I'm Feeling: Pretty good overall, although the exhaustion of first trimester seems to be returning with full force now that I am into my third trimester. My mom also was sweet enough to buy me a belly bandit this week to help with the cramping I was experiencing when I walked too fast. My belly is really going through another growth spurt this week and I am looking forward to some relief!

Showing?: Oh yeah! With this most recent growth spurt I am really starting to feel bigger each day. My belly definitely leads the way these days.

Big Developments: My baby girl is a mover and a shaker. She moves non stop and I can really enjoy just watching what looks like waves go across my belly when she flips. It really looks like I have an alien in there.

Loving: Cake. My godmother made the most amazing chocolate cake for my shower and I have been eating a slice every night since. Oh so yummy.

Hating: Heartburn. Ugh heartburn has really become my worst nightmare. I am struggling with it daily.

Dreaming Of: Spending the summer with my little lady. I am realizing that I am really getting close to maternity leave and I am getting so excited. Can't wait to welcome my little nugget!

Favorite Wardrobe Pieces: I am totally obsessed with the dress I snagged for shower this past weekend. I got it at A Pea in the Pod after I couldn't get excited about anything I had to wear. I had wanted to try it on in the past but kept thinking it wouldn't fit. Well I was wrong! It had just the right amount of stretch, felt like a soft tshirt and could potentially be a great fit post baby as well!

Baby Finds: I had my first of two baby showers on Sunday and we were spoiled rotten! I got so many wonderful gifts for baby girl that I cannot wait to try out. I also packed up some clothes and books from my childhood to bring home for my little girl. My mom saved my vintage nike high tops. Can't wait for baby girl to rock them herself!

Bumpdate: Week 26 Q&A

Bumpdate: Week 26

Baby's Size: A Cauliflower or a Head of Lettuce

Gender: A girl. Her initials are KC!

How I'm Feeling: Overall really good. I had a little bit of a scare 2 weeks ago when my blood pressure reading was a little high (and way out of the ordinary for me). I got to take an impromptu visit to Labor & Delivery at UCLA and get an early tour of where we will be heading when it's time for our girl to make her debut. Luckily everything checked out normal, but I have the added bonus of monitoring my blood pressure now every morning and evening. But it's better to be safe than sorry!

Showing?: I all of a sudden feel like I am getting bigger everyday! My belly is really firm now and I can feel that she is really running out of room in there, so as she grows, so does my belly. It's been pretty great though that I really have only seen weight gain in my belly. All my friends have commented that from behind they can't even tell I'm pregnant!

Big Developments: I can see my belly moving now when she kicks and moves. It's officially really looks like there is an alien in there. Her kicks are also getting stronger everyday, especially between breakfast and lunch when she is most active. I've laughed out loud at work a few times now when she gets going.

Loving: The beach! It's been so warm lately that I keep flocking to the beach. I know it's going to be hard to get as much beach time as we usually do this summer with the little lady so I am taking advantage of all the spring beach time I can get.

Hating: Having to get up out of bed in the middle of the night! I am having a harder time getting in and out of the car and in and out of bed these days. And to be half asleep makes it so much worse! I keep trying to roll around and use momentum to get myself up but sometimes I have Dan give me a push.

Dreaming Of: Sunday night I had a really weird dream where my Mom worked at Marvel and getting in to see her with KC as baby was like an exercise in espionage. I was like a mommy and baby spy duo that needed to get up the elevator bank to see her in her office. So strange.

Favorite Wardrobe Pieces: Maternity shorts and dresses. I wore this dress for St. Patrick's Day and was so comfortable all day! Anything that lets the bump breathe essentially. And my bikinis. I am loving rocking my regular bikinis with my bump.

Baby Finds: Didn't really splurge on anything for baby since the last update. Instead I have been looking at possible decorations for her nursery. I ordered this wood monogram in pink and am considering a few of these Disney watercolor prints (here, here and here).

Wednesday Wishes: Registry Favorites

These are just a few of my favorites still on my registry for baby girl. Can you tell I am really looking forward to bath time with adorable critter towels and this origami tub? Or to beach days under this SPF umbrella? Or just to toting her around in this Anchor themed Ergobaby carrier?  My first shower is just a few weeks away and I am so excited to celebrate with my East Coast family and friends!

Wednesday Wishes: Baby Outfits

Little girl's clothes are just dreamy. And its fun to lust after some beautiful pieces from the amazing brand Janie and Jack. I was able to visit their outlet this past weekend and the nice thing is that you can snag pieces that are still in store at a minimum of 25% off the retail price up to 60% off. It's nice because unlike so many other outlets, the pieces are current and new. Here are just a few of the pieces I am loving right now. I would say that its best to purchase their larger sizes (I looked at just 12+ plus for almost everything, since I wanted to get the most out of each wear). Also the sales lady did tell me that typically their dresses run big, which is great to know for this first time mom.

Bumpdate: 24 Week Q&A

Bumpdate: Week 24

Baby's Size: A Cantelope

Gender: A girl. Her initials are KC!

How I'm Feeling: Good although starting to feel bigger and bigger. Tying my shoes is starting to becom

Showing?: For sure. The flight attendants on our flight back from Aspen were so sweet. They complimented my basketball belly, but said that I was a very cute pregnant lady! I also finally spilled the beans at work. Everyone was very sweet saying I did a good job disguising it, but we all know I didn't! I was at a conference this past weekend and baby was front and center at our keynote dinner on Saturday night. It's nice though to be able to be open about the baby girl on the way!

Big Developments: Dan is finally able to feel her strong kicks! I actually saw my belly bounce up and down with her kicks this past weekend. I know she is running out of room and she lets me know it. With that reduction of space, I've also noticed my bump growing much faster now than in the past.

Loving: Iced Decaf Coffee. I feel like it tricks my brain into believing I'm getting a caffinee boost, but its the highlight of my morning. I love that Starbucks has the clover so they can brew me a fresh decaf iced coffee just the way I like it.

Hating: Getting up in the middle of the night. I hate having to get up to pee. It's a battle with myself everytime. Do I just try to ignore it or go pee and have an easier time falling asleep. I think the biggest challenge is because it's hard to push myself up out of bed and only getting harder.

Dreaming Of: A few weeks at home. I only have one trip planned for the rest of my pregnancy and that is to NY for my baby shower and Easter. Other than that, I am enjoying being at home and hitting the beach on the weekend with a good book and lots of water.

Favorite Wardrobe Pieces: This dress from Seraphine Maternity. It is so comfortable, the length is good and the color is dreamy. Also any sort of flats or sneakers. They just make day to day living so much nicer!

Baby Finds: I hit the Janie and Jack Outlet on my way home from the SWE Region B Conference last weekend. It was on my way so I figured why not. It's a pretty great deal. The Outlet gets the new arrivals that are in their regular retail stores just a week or two later and everything is already discounted a minimum of 25%. I got my baby girl this dress since I have this almost perfect match from Kate Spade.

Wednesday Wishes: Nursery & An Update

Wednesday Wishes

My mom was in town last week helping us to get started on the nursery for our baby girl. I honestly am already so in love with her room and find myself nesting in there 24/7. These are all items that we are either considering or already have in place in the room. Her furniture is pretty much all set and now comes the fun part, decorating! We have a few decorations in place but more to come when my mom is back hopefully in April for my California Baby Shower.

Bumpdate: 22 Week Q&A

Bumpdate: Week 22

Baby's Size: A Papaya

Gender: A girl!!

How I'm Feeling: Good. Eating throughout the day it seems. I like to have a yogurt with some fruit or a muffin in the afternoon between lunch and dinner. It really helps me from getting too hungry when I hit the gym after work.

Showing?: I can just barely see my toes now when I look down. I feel like my belly is really starting to take center stage, but as my friends have reassured me, since I lost some weight other places, I am rocking a cute bump and nothing else. Because of the weight loss I have been able to wear some flowy pieces a bit longer, but it was a sad day when I could not  button up any of my non-maternity button ups anymore!

Big Developments: Baby girl is a kicking machine. When we watched Pitch Perfect the other day, she actually started to kick during every musical number.. it was eerie! Oh and I think I won't be able to see my feet shortly!

Loving: Nesting and prepping for baby. My mom is here this week to help us with the nursery. I feel like it will start to feel so much more real as we paint and get some furniture in there! I have also started knitting baby blocks for baby girl that will spell out her name. I knocked out a bunch of panels last week while everyone else was skiing. Next up, a chevron baby blanket.

Hating: Mornings! I seem to get my best sleep in the AM. I don't know if I finally feel comfortable or not, but getting up is rough.

Dreaming Of: Sushi and Hard Cider. I really have not had any cravings, but I am missing spicy tuna rolls and hard cider these days. That may be my celebration meal after we have baby girl.

Favorite Wardrobe Pieces: My Loft maternity shorts (pictured above) and Lululemon Wunder Unders. My shorts go with absolutely everything and now that I feel more and more like a furnace 24/7, I am wanting to live in them. I also just got out of living in my Lulu wunder unders all last week in Aspen. I have two pairs and pretty much wore them everyday. They go with everything, are thick and have a really comfy wide waistband.

Baby Finds: I've been trying to just window shop for the most part as I have my showers coming up still, but I found I was tempted and may have snagged one or two things over President's Day with such good sales. I am also obsessed with this onesie from J.Crew. I may just have to pull the trigger...

Bumpdate: 20 Week Q&A

Bumpdate: Week 20

Baby's Size: A Banana (6.5 inches long)

Gender: It's a Girl! We are so over the moon thrilled for her to get here! Dan was actually so cute in the car on the way to our appointment last week. He looked at me and said, I'm good with a girl. Girl's are closer to their dad's then their mom's. Heart melted guys, seriously.
Pink Starburst for our little lady.

How I'm Feeling: Overall really great. Sleep is getting harder as I have to get up to pee at least once a night, usually twice. But my body pillow has a been a big help. Little girl has been kicking and punching me more and more and its really cool. She especially gets active after I work out or if there are loud noises around me. I can't wait for Dan to be able to feel it.

Showing?: Oh yea. As Dan told me the other day, I don't think you are fooling anyone anymore. Our friend's son, Logan, even looked at me at the Superbowl party this weekend and patted my tummy, asking "Is there a baby in there?"

Big Developments: We found out its a girl! We are really super excited about it. We both had a feeling it was a girl since at our last appointment they couldn't tell and every shot between the legs looked like there wasn't anything there. It's really fun to know for sure!

Loving: Fruit! I am on a serious sweets kick and fruit has been ideal. I have been munching on strawberries, watermelon, apples and plums for the last two weeks whenever I get hungry. So yummy.

Hating: Nothing really. The last two weeks have been really good and fun. I stayed out the with friends til 2am the other night which was a record for me since I have been pregnant. It was fun to hang out with everyone and enjoy a few more crazy nights out with everyone (even if I am drinking water at the bars.)

Dreaming Of: Lots of snuggles. I had a dream about a week ago that I was in bed spooning my parent's dog, Speights. I was big spoon and she was little spoon. And it was heaven. Weird, but heavenly!

Favorite Wardrobe Pieces: These black dress crops for work from Gap, these jean shorts from LOFT and my pre pregnancy blazers.
It has really gotten warm again here in SoCal so I was desperate for some shorts that fit. Luckily LOFT had a pair ready to ship and they can be dressed up or down. I also have this pair on order from Gap.

Baby Finds: I had to treat our little lady to a few fun pink things for her closet. We have a ton of boy hand-me downs, from our nephews and friends' kids (all boys), so I felt like she needed some pink infusion. I went to Carter's since they were having a huge sale this past weekend and picked up some onesies and ballerina socks. Little girl clothes are just so fun to buy.
I also bought Dan some Daddy and Me board books so that he can have special books to read at bedtime. They are his Valentine's Day present, so shhh!

Gift Guide: Valentine's Day for Him

Oh the man in your life. Honestly shopping for boys can be a challenge at best. And if they are anything like my husband, they want to know why we are even wasting time on Valentine's Day gifts in the first place. I try to be creative and find things that he would not normally get himself.

This year I took the easy way out and focused on baby. I got him this adorable Daddy was Made for Hugging Onsie from Carter's and a few board books like Daddy Hugs for Dan to read to our baby girl at bedtime. Hope he likes it!

Bumpdate: 18 Week Q&A

Bumpdate: Week 18

Baby's Size: A Sweet Potato

Gender: Fingers crossed baby will cooperate at our anatomy ultrasound during week 20!

How I'm Feeling: Overall really good. My belly is growing a bit each day. I finally popped and from the start to the end of each week I have been able to see a growth change. I am feeling good about eating again as well as exercise, so I've been a much more active mama lately.

Showing?: My bump is definitely popping more and more each day. I feel my belly button slowly popping out over time too. Depending on what I am wearing people look at me and then at my bump, even strangers!

Big Developments: Felt the first flutters at the end of week 16and lots of legit movement by the end of week 17. I have one spot that baby likes to push on next to my belly button so that has been getting a lot of love from me and everyone else!

Loving: Anything iced to drink really. Ice Water, Iced Decaf Coffee, Iced Tea. I am always thirsty it seems so I go to bed with tons of ice water and am always sipping on something.

Hating: Still on the fence about Greek yogurt. Was planning on trying again this week. I am hesitant though.

Dreaming Of: I find my best sleep comes in the morning. It may be because I am tossing and turning all night from one side to the other, but I finally seem to settle down into dreams in the early morning. Some days they are intergalactic battles and some days they are me winning a professional championship of some kind (i.e. the Superbowl, World Series, Olympic gold). No flying dreams yet though. Hope they come soon.

Favorite Wardrobe Pieces: My favorite dress from Persifor, the Carter Dress. It is not a maternity dress, but has great stretch. I am loving showing off my little bump now that it looks like a bump instead of chubbiness!

Baby Finds: Nothing in particular. I have been starting to work on my registry and checking out strollers and cribs. My current frontrunners are the Britax Affinity and the Emerson Crib from Pottery Barn Kids. My girlfriend also has the Classic Diaper Bag from Pottery Barn monogrammed and I love it. I'm torn between the grey and the navy!

An Announcement

So perhaps many of you saw our big announcement on Instagram on Christmas Day, but it's official, we are planning on welcoming a little monster to our lives in June! We've been calling the little one Embro since we got pregnant but are hoping to find the sex out soon. I promise that while Headbands & Bagels will be adding some content about pregnancy and lifestyle topics around motherhood and babies, H&B will still remain fashion and lifestyle focused. This little one will be traveling just like their mom and dad!

We chose to announce the pregnancy via our Christmas cards this year. Dan liked it for the practicality and efficiency of only having to send one card. Oh boys! Or should I say that's an engineer for you!

I am looking forward to chronicling my status every 2 weeks to month. I hope it's of interest to you all, as I know I love looking back on updates over the years and am looking forward to having this record.

Bumpdate: Week 16

Baby's Size: An Avocado.

Gender: Fingers crossed we will get a tentative answer this week, although we are prepared that nothing will be confirmed until our next ultrasound at week 20.

How I'm Feeling: Finally much better. Week 16 has been a big turn around for me. I was suffering from severe morning sickness up until Monday and eating anything had been a struggle. Luckily it looks like I am finally going to be able to gain some weight, even though I weigh less now than I did before I got pregnant!

Showing?: More every day. I notice it more than a stranger would but its definitely getting there. I first felt like I had a belly at the start of December but its getting more visible even in the looser fitting shirts and button ups. I have been out of my work pants for weeks now, and am slowly having to transition away from my fat pants into maternity clothes. I've definitely gone towards the looser fitting pieces in my wardrobe to help hide it a little longer.

Big Developments: I seem to be past the morning sickness (or all day sickness), knock on wood! Also, the doctor told us that I may be able to start feeling the baby move around. It should feel like butterflies in your stomach. I am hoping it happens soon!

Loving: Water and Iced Tea. I feel constantly dehydrated, even though I'm not. I always seem to have a water bottle on hand these days.

Hating: Greek Yogurt. It started back around week 10 and since then I have not been able to even look at a container of Greek yogurt without having my stomach turn. I'm hoping to try again in the next week or two.

Dreaming Of: Science Fiction. I've been fighting battles to save the universe in a lot of my dreams lately. It may be because I am a nerdy engineer at heart, but I love being a kickass intergalactic hero.

Favorite Wardrobe Pieces: Anything with stretch has really been my friend. Over the Christmas break I practically lived in any of my Lululemon leggings. They have enough stretch for my little belly without the waistband digging in. Waistbands have been my nemesis over the last few weeks.

Baby Finds: My sister and I went shopping when I was home and found super cute finds on sale at Old Navy. I snagged a set of three grey onesies that are perfect and so neutral and Dom bought the baby American Flag slip on sneakers.
