On Friday morning I had the opportunity to attend the grand re-opening of Build-A-Bear Workshop at Del Amo Fashion Center. They recently relocated to a new space in the mall, as a part of Del Amo Fashion Center's major renovations over the next two years and Friday was a special event which included Make-A-Wish Foundation and the LA Chapter of Make-A-Wish.

On Friday Build-A-Bear Workshop kicked off a national partnership with Make-A-Wish Foundation, creating an opportunity for kids to help other kids. This past Friday and Saturday, Build-A-Bear Workshop at Del Amo Fashion Center donated 200 bears to the LA Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. These bears will be used by Make-A-Wish volunteers and employees when introducing themselves to their new wish kids. These bears made my children will help other children by giving them a friend through a challenging time they are facing. Make-A-Wish also has a program for children called Kids for Wish Kids, where children can get involved from elementary school through high school to work with their local Make-A-Wish chapters. Make-A-Wish Foundation is very near and dear to my heart as it is our sorority's chosen national philanthropy partner. Every Chi Omega loves to help out a Wish Kid, and I was excited to meet with the LA Chapter on Friday and learn more about what they are doing in the community. Make-A-Wish has both national and international chapters with 61 national chapters. It is important to note though that all donations stay local ensuring that they are going to help children in your own community. Last year Make-A-Wish Foundation's LA Chapter granted 400 wishes to local children while also hosting an additional 200 wishes for children whose wishes focused on local LA experiences.

Build-A-Bear Workshop recently updated the process children experience when creating their new furry friend to a much more interactive experience. Children have the opportunity to instill character traits upon their bear or other furry friend via touch screen and customize their new friend's birth certificate at the end of the process.

Build-A-Bear Workshop gave me the opportunity to try out their new experience by making my own furry friend and I am proud to introduce my new blog mascot, Bagels, complete with her own headband! She sits on top of my desk so that if I need a little inspiration I just look to her!
