Merry Christmas to Us

I've mentioned it before in my earlier posts that my husband and I both enjoy playing video games. While Dan is more of a gamer than I am, I still enjoy my Nintendo platforms. That is why for the last year, I have been hounding Dan about getting the Wii U when it came out. I've been not so impatiently waiting for the system to drop, all the while dropping hints at my husband about what a great Christmas present it would be.

As the days got closer, Dan offered that if we were able to get the Wii U before Christmas, that it should be a joint present for the two of us, since he would otherwise clearly win Christmas this year (my gift would be a gift for him), and he'd get presents from me to boot. Since he is such a sweetie, I took him up on the offer and our quest for the Wii U began
.
For those of you who don't know, the Wii U dropped in stores in the US on Sunday, November 18th. Dan and I had missed all the presale reservations, so we spent Sunday calling every major store from Orange County to Los Angeles. Of course the only Wii U in the Southern California was an hour away at Target and sold before we could get there, but we found out about a great deal at Frye's electronics. They had a wait list going where you would get a great bundled package that included the Wii U, an extra controller set, NintendoLand, and Super Mario Bros U. We each signed up for wait list, Dan for the black system and me for the white system.

Well as luck would have it, some kid didn't want the white system his parents bought and it was returned to the store today. I got the call and picked up our Merry Christmas this morning. Dan in the meantime had already planned a Wii U party for later that night with our favorite fellow Wii gamers, Michele and Courtney.

As the excitement for breaking that box open builds, I am getting more and more antsy. More to come, I'm sure on the awesomeness that is my Wii U, but now the question is, who is going to get one of our 2 Wii's???? Maybe it will be a Merry Christmas for someone else too ;)
