Reading: Yes, Please by Amy Poehler. I love Amy Poehler. I was so sad to see the end of Parks and Rec and I thought that diving into her book would help ease the pain. It has been really enjoyable thus far and a great read when traveling because it's easy to pick up and put down whenever you have time.

Eating: Chocolate cake. I have been noshing on leftover chocolate cake from my shower. Absolute perfection.

Listening: Disney tunes. I have been getting in mommy mode by singing along to disney tunes in the car.

Watching: The Following on Hulu. I loved the first two seasons and was really curious where they would be able to go after the end of Season 2. I don't want to give anything away but I am anxiously wondering what will happen to Ryan Hardy and his team next.

Craving: These ballet pink Tieks. I hear these are the most comfortable flats and I keep wondering if I should take the plunge on a pair. Anyone have any personal experiences with them?

Dreaming: Of baby carrying. I cannot wait to wear my girl around town and explore with her!

My favorite post of the month is back. It's time for March's Currently edition.

Reading: Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell. I am a huge fan of the movie and always wanted to read the book, so I decided what time is better than the present. The great thing about having it on my Kindle is that I never have to carry around a big book!

Eating: Wonderful FroYo. Soft serve has been my absolute favorite lately. Whether its frozen yogurt, ice cream or a Frosty from Wendy's. It's so satisfying.

Listening: Disney tunes. I drove 3.5 hours back and forth to a conference last weekend and I rocked out to Disney all the way. I am already looking forward to singing Disney music with my girl in the car.

Watching: House of Cards. Honestly, who isn't? I hope that they will decide to do a fourth season... Whose with me?

Craving: Of sleep! My best sleep has been in the AM when baby girl is finally asleep with me. I also think my energy is starting to ramp back down as I head into the tail end of my second trimester. No good!

Dreaming: Of my baby girl. Her nursery is coming together. We just still need to finish decorating. Right now the paint and furniture are all in place. I am also working on making her knit baby blocks and a chevron baby blanket. I love being crafty when it comes to her.

What makes your Currently list this month?

Currently... February Edition

Reading: The House Girl by Tara Conklin. I've only recently started this but I am enjoying it already. I know my Kindle will be my trusty partner while in Aspen.

Eating: Fruit, Fruit and More Fruit. Fruit is my serious craving right now. Between strawberries, plums and watermelon, I can't get enough of the stuff. Yums!

Listening: Queen's Greatest Hits. I adore Queen. All the songs are easy to sing along to and a great distraction, especially in the car. I am also working on having baby girl learn to love them while in the womb! I love singing to her already.

Watching: Fox's Gotham. I am really enjoying this show. Dan and I had recorded most of the season to save it for a rainy day and we powered through 12 episodes in a week. It's really fun to try to connect the dots to the comic book in later years.

Craving: The snow. We are off to Aspen shortly with my family for our annual ski trip and I cannot wait. Unfortunately I can't ski this year, but at least Aspen has a great town for me to enjoy! And I can work remotely in the mornings while taking in the snow and some hot chocolate.

Dreaming: Of our little lady. I hope she'll love sports as much as her parents, but I also can't wait to dress her up in adorable dresses as well as reading her all of my favorite books from childhood.

Reading: Rules of Civility by Amor Towles. Set in the late 1930s, this book is so much fun to read. The story of Kate Kontent and her friends before she settled down. Worth reading for sure! I can't put it down.

Eating: More like drinking. I am on a serious ice tea kick lately. I want it with every meal.

Listening: Taylor Swift's 1989 has been seriously so much fun to listen to. I for one am not complaining about her going to pop.

Watching: Downton Abbey is back. I am especially excited to catch up with Lady Mary and her suitors and Anna and Bates. What about you?

Craving: Sleep. First week back at work is hard after 2 weeks off!

Dreaming: Aspen. Can't wait for the annual ski trip with my family. I've never been to Aspen and I am so excited to explore the town and the slopes!

Currently... Holiday Edition

Currently...

There is something special about the holiday season that warrants it's own Currently. I don't know about all of you, but I revert to my inner child for much of the holiday season. As it is Christmas Eve and my family's holiday thrives upon tradition, this special Holiday Currently is all about what we'll be up to the next few days.

Reading: 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. My grandfather used to read this to my sister, cousins and I each Christmas Eve after we opened gifts and stockings and had dinner. Since he passed away my uncle and dad had taken over reading until recently when us kids starting taking turns. I love reading all the Christmas books from being a kid during the holidays. I am sure I will read The Polar Express and How the Grinch Stole Christmas before the week is out.

Eating: Tonight we will be feasting on stew and pate and cheese and champagne. My grandmother cooks an amazing meal every Christmas Eve and this year is stew. YUM!

Listening: Christmas Music. What else is new. Although tonight during our drive upstate my dad will be playing the audiobook of A Christmas Carol read by Jim Dale, the master of the Harry Potter series.

Watching: A Christmas Story. As of this evening, the 24 hour marathon of A Christmas Story begins. We watch this throughout the night, and leave it on even during dinner, although almost none of us pay attention. I think we could all recite the entire movie from memory at this point. Tomorrow I am sure we will watch It's A Wonderful Life, so I'm prepping myself for some tears.

Craving: Crème Brule. My sister makes a great crème brule from scratch. In general she makes great deserts, but I am hoping she makes some of these this weekend. We will also be feasting on my aunt's killer Apple Cake tonight. Its soooo good.

Dreaming: Of Skiing. There will be some skiing this week but ski trip is not until February. Our next trip planned!

What traditions are you keeping this holiday week?

Currently... December Edition

Currently...

It's time for one of my favorite posts every month. Later this month, I'll be doing a special Holiday Edition of Currently, but until then I had to keep you all up to date on what's been going on.

Reading: My Mother She Killed Me by Kate Bernheimer. It is an updated collection of fairytales, reimagined and told by modern writers. These are not your classics reimagined, but completely new fairytales inspired by the ones you and I grew up with. A fun read and great bed time reading because no story is particularly long.

Eating: Pizza. I am all about pizza right now. Not sure why but I could eat it every meal it seems. Maybe its because there are so many ways to dress up your pizza these days beyond just the plain cheese or pepperoni. I'm all about the Spinach Artichoke Pizza from CPK right now.

Listening: Merry Christmas by Bing Crosby. Is there any singer that is more synonymous with Christmas then Bing Crosby? His beautiful voice carries us all away with him.

Watching: The Newsroom on HBO. I am so sad that this is the last season of The Newsroom. I have been watching religiously every week and am totally enraptured. The storyline this season is so relevant and thrilling. I will be so sad to see it end.

Craving: Hot Chocolate. I don't know if it's the season or what, but there is nothing better than hot chocolate complete with whipped cream at the end of a long day.

Dreaming: Christmas. Why is this surprising. Next weekend we are off to Big Bear to celebrate with Dan's family and then back to NY to celebrate with mine. We also have two holiday parties this weekend. Let the holiday cheer spread away!

Currently... November Edition

Currently...

November is here and with it my favorite post of the month. It's time for another edition of Currently.

Reading: Ken Follett's Edge of Eternity. The final installment of the Century Trilogy, I am so excited to see what has been happening with all the characters and what has developed for them and their families. The book opens with the rise of East and West Germany and the Cold War.

Eating: Halloween Candy of course! In particular, Candy Corn. It is my favorite Halloween candy and I cannot get enough of it.

Listening: Work hours seem to be made for the smooth voice of Old Blue Eyes. I've had my Sinatra CDs on repeat for days. Of course this will change about half way through the month when I make the switch to Christmas tunes 24/7.

Watching: Once Upon A Time. How good is the Frozen storyline??? I love the Snow Queen bringing a new evil character to play and that Belle has more to her storyline than just being good. But where is Anna?!

Craving: Good old fashioned H20. I sometimes like to add fruit to it for a spa water effect, but I've been chugging it all day!

Dreaming: Of Christmas lights and decorations. I have that Thanksgiving is so late this year. The tree may go up a week ahead of Thanksgiving to compensate!

What does your Currently look like?

Reading: The White Princess by Philippa Gregory. The fifth book in the Cousin's War series, I have been blazing through the books lately and am really enjoying this new story about the York Princess who married the Tudor King and joined the Red and White Roses. Still a big time of turmoil following the death of the York King Richard, Elizabeth faces potential dangers from her own York bloodline as she is married to the Tudor King and producing heirs for their future line.

Eating: Jell-O Pudding. God I am loving my Jell-O snack pack at lunch everyday. Hands down, the sugar free dark chocolate cannot be beat. It is only 2 points on Weight Watchers but gets me every time.

Listening: Shake It Off by Taylor Swift. I have been playing this song on repeat at work. It is a great mood boost or energy booster come midday. I love my girl Taylor.

Watching: Sons of Anarchy on FX. Dan and I are still working through our last few episodes of season 6 before getting started on the new season. So no spoilers please! We are so close!

Craving: This James Kiel Patrick bracelet. I've had my eye on this bracelet for what seems like years. I love the braided leather in gold and the anchor fastener makes it even preppier. It is definitely added to my wish list.

Dreaming: Of Apple Picking and Fall back East. I wish I could be there to pick all the apples for the cider press but at least I can enjoy the fruits of the labor during Christmas. Homemade apple cider cannot be beat.

Currently... September Edition

Currently... September

Reading: The Red Queen is the second book chronologically in the Cousins' War Series. I have always been a big fan of Philippa Gregory and I am excited to be finally diving back into the Cousins' War. I read The Lady of the Rivers earlier this year and am excited to get back into the story.

Eating: Turkey Sandwiches! I finally buckled down and made Dan and I a budget and I was shocked at how much we spent eating out each month. An easy fix would be making lunch everyday rather than us both eating out for lunch each day. I've been busy making turkey sandwiches each day with Swiss cheese for both of us along with some snacks for each lunch. Delicious and money saving!

Listening: Norah Jones' Come Away with Me album. I have loved this album since it first came out and I find it unbelievably soothing at work and great to buckle down and get stuff done. I love her jazzy vibe.

Watching: My favorite show is back! The League on FX is my favorite show and I am so glad its back. Fantasy Football is one of my favorite things and I am really enjoying the new season so far. I'm hoping Jenny can repeat her title!

Craving: Fall. It's still really warm in LA and every year I always feel like I am going through withdrawal. I am stoked to be in NY for a week at the end of September to visit my family and get some fall in.

Dreaming: NYC is on my mind. I am getting really excited to see my family in just a week. Dan and I have back to back weddings in Pennsylvania at the end of the month and while Dan has to travel home for work, I've worked out a telecommute plan for a week in NY. I'm gonna get to take in Derek Jeter's last three games at Yankee Stadium, attend a Broadway play with my family, and visit my old high school to talk to the girls about engineering. Go Marymount Lions!

Reading: The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galibraith is the first of the Cormoran Strike series. Written by J.K. Rowling under her pen name of Robet Galibraith, the story has Cormoran investigating the death of famous model, Lula Landry. Each chapter brings along not only more about the suspicions surrounding her supposed suicide, but more about Cormoran's back story as well. I am really enjoying it and looking forward to the next one, recently out.

Eating: I am a Mexican food junkie. Every Monday night after working out I nosh on a grilled chicken tostada salad from Cafe Rio and it's heaven. It's a great way to get tons of protein between the chicken and black beans and its absolutely full of flavor.

Listening: Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 is a huge part of what makes Guardians of the Galaxy so great. This soundtrack is perfect for anytime of day: rocking out in the shower, singing through traffic or pounding the pavement on a run. You can't help but smile while listening.

Watching: Sons of Anarchy. Dan and I are finally catching up on the show as it goes into its final season so no spoilers please! We were turned onto the show by our friends whose twin boys played Thomas during seasons 5 and 6. We are currently on season 4 and catching a few episodes each night. So we hope to be caught up soon!

Craving: These Loren Hope earrings. Available at Tuckernuck, these earrings are dynamite. I love the color combos and think I could pair them with so many different looks. Right now I am all about a statement earring and bangles with either a delicate chain or no necklace at all. Statement earrings always look fantastic with an updo or a simple ponytail.

Dreaming: The Lululemon Seawheeze Half Marathon is this weekend! I am off to Vancouver with Dan and my mother in law for the big race. I had registered and bought flights before I got hurt again, so I'll be walking the race this year, but at least I am able to participate! I am so excited for yoga, a 13.1 mile walk/jog along the water, snagging some exclusive Lulu gear and exploring Vancouver with two of my biggest fans!

Reading: The Painted Girls. About Degas' ballerinas and his inspiration, The Painted Girls felt like the perfect book to dive into while touring around Europe.

Eating: Cheese. My favorite food on earth. That with my second favorite food, bread, has made me infinitely happy this trip (with the exception of my waistline).

Listening: Edith Piaf. She is the songbird of France and when I listen to her music I feel transported to a simpler time in France.

Watching: World Cup! Quarterfinals time! Looking forward to continuing to cheer alongside the Europeans.

Craving: True Blood. I am missing multiple episodes of the final season right now and I could not be more devastated. All I can say is that there will be a major catch up happening as soon as I get home so Kellie and I can restart our watching parties.

Dreaming: Scotland. It's up next on our whirlwind tour. Ready to explore the Highlands, see a monster and drink some Scotch!

Reading: Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald. F. Scott Fitzgerald is my favorite author to the point that I have read everything he has ever written multiple times. Hence I am now on to this acclaimed story about the woman in his life, Zelda.

Eating: Mexican. With our trip to Europe pending, I am enjoying cultural dishes that I will be missing for a few weeks. And let's be honest, anyone who knows me, knows I love my Mexican food.

Listening: Avenue Q Soundtrack. I have a limited number of CDs at work since I stopped buying CDs a few years back and switch all to digital, so this little number has gotten some serious playtime lately.

Watching: The World Cup. Sunday was heartbreaking but the US is still in it. Since I bleed Red White and Blue for both my country and my heritage, I am also cheering on Les Bleus (aka France) as well.

Craving: A new Longchamp. Mine is shot so I am thinking of replacing it this vacation.

Dreaming: France. It's been 8 years since I have been back and I cannot wait!

Currently... May Edition

Currently...May

Currently...May by preppy-lizzy featuring Kate Spade

Reading: Wool by Hugh Howley. My husband recommended this book to me after he devoured it. He found it through user ratings on Amazon and I have to say after the first few chapters I am hooked. Why are all these people living in a Silo? And why can no one go outside? The mystery is killing me!

Eating: Peanut Butter Smoothies. These have been my jam in the mornings lately. I use 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, a scoop of protein powder (vanilla or chocolate), 2 tablespoons of Skippy Natural Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter (AMAZING) and 1 banana. It is amazing and tastes just like peanut butter cup. Yums!

Listening: 500 Days of Summer Soundtrack. After going to the Eat See Hear movie with Leeann, Kate and Brianna, I have not been able to stop listening to this soundtrack. It is great for the car. Trust me.

Watching: Fargo. The Cohen Brothers are two of my favorite movie directors and I love that they are producing the TV series based on the movie Fargo. As always FX does it again. It is a super dark comedy, but I find myself itching for the show to start each Tuesday night.

Craving: I have almost no red tops in my closet. Second only to the lack of yellow and I am in love with this Kate Spade top. Red, a peplum and a bow? Sold. Just waiting for a Kate Spade sale. Hope it doesn't sell out before then!

Dreaming: Amsterdam. I am so excited for our family vacation to Europe this summer. Switzerland, France, Belgium, Holland and Scotland are all on the docket. We are going everywhere but Scotland with my family and then Dan and I are staying an extra week in Scotland. So excited!!

Reading: Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter. I know I am behind but I am really enjoying it so far!

Eating: Kale. I know, I know, I sound so California. But I really do love kale. I have been getting it for lunch as a salad with grilled chicken and a lemon vinaigrette about once a week and its awesome. Whole Foods also makes a killer kale, brussel sprout and parmesan salad that is to die for!

Listening: The Midnight in Paris Soundtrack. It is beautiful and is so getting me in the mood for our European family vacation this summer!

Watching: Is this even a question? Game of Thrones of course! This year Dan and I are hosting GOT at our house every Sunday night with all our friends and Dan and I are the only book readers. It is so great getting their reactions to things we've known about for years!

Craving: I'm in love with these shoes. The color amazing, the pattern so cool, the price not so much. A girl can dream at least.

Dreaming: In less than a month I will be kicking my heels together at the Annual Family Square Dance in upstate New York. And the best part? This year I won't be on crutches just days after knee surgery. Time to get the dancing going!

Reading: Tangalang by Gerald Tang. This book was just released on Amazon and is written by my good friend Gerald. Hilarious and though provoking it is a great read. More to come on the book review this coming month.

Eating: Cheese and Wine. We are celebrated my sister in law, Juile's birthday with lots of wine and cheese. Cheese is my absolute weakness. Many diets have been derailed with wine and cheese!

Listening: To Ennico Morrcone's greatest film scores. I love falling asleep to classical scores and something about Ennico's music gives me quite the positive reaction.

Watching: Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Dan and I had been wanting to start watching this show for a while and wanted to see what all the hype was after they did so well at the Emmys. The show is wonderful and Andy is awesome. Thank goodness for HuluPlus is all I can say.

Craving: These navy blue tassel earrings. I feel like these could be dressed up or down and are just so elegant without trying to hard. I really want to pull the trigger.

Dreaming: Of Easter in NYC. Dan and I are trying to alternate Easter's between the east and west coasts and we are excited that this Easter my entire family on my mom's side will be together. I can't wait for an amazing meal, an epic Easter egg and beer hunt and toasting my grandfather at the cemetery with a little white wine.

Reading: The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. I just started it and I am really excited because so many people have recommended it to me. I figured a ski trip was the perfect time to start a new book.

Eating: Pound cake and berries. After a long day on the slopes and a delicious dinner by my momma, nothing beats a little pound cake and tea to finish the day.

Listening: Mirrors by Justin Timberlake. My hands down favorite song right now. It was perfect to rock out to with a drink in the hot tub.

Watching: The Olympic Winter Games. Like that is surprising. Did anyone watch the US v Russia Men's Hockey Game Saturday Morning! AMAZING!

Craving: A spa day. My legs are jelly and my knee is swollen after all this skiing. A good massage would be a dream.

Dreaming: Of gold. I dream of skeleton. What is your winter Olympic dream?

It's a new year and time for a new Craving edition. We arrived in Florida today for the wedding of one of my best friends and bridesmaids, Suzanne. We are here in lovely Boca Grande and I am so excited to get some quality beach time in. I know I live in Southern California, but there is still something so relaxing about a beach wedding full of sunshine and celebrations.

I am hoping to get some quality time in the sand with my kindle to read some more of Flight Behavior. I know it may be funny that I am rocking out to the Frozen soundtrack and dreaming of Utah while enjoying the summer sun, but next month we are off on a family ski trip and I am working to get my knee in ski shape!

After wedding festivities wind down here, Dan and I will be off to Harry Potter World at Universal Studios and then home! Looking forward to a great weekend!

Reading: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. I am on a classics kick lately and loving that Amazon gives you these for free!

Eating: Organic Dark Chocolate pretzels from Whole Foods. Seriously the best and also my favorite pick me up during the workday.

Listening: Nat King Cole's The Christmas Song. Hands down the best Christmas song out there.

Watching: Elf.  Dan and I had a lazy evening on Saturday after the Big 10 Pubcrawl during the day. Elf has become one of my most favorite Holiday movies. One of my favorite lines: "We elves try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corn and syrup."

Craving: These Ferragamo Varina Navy flats. They are just perfection.

Dreaming: Of Christmas. I love homes all decorated and the anticipation of celebrating Christmas traditions. How do you celebrate your holiday season?

Reading: Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
My husband read the book first and kept telling me to start it. I saw the movie a few weeks ago and was sold. The movie was a little disjointed but still enjoyable and Dan kept telling me the book was way better so I decided to start it up. So far I am really enjoying it. The book has way more detail than the movie, which I really love.
Eating (Well Drinking): Starbucks Caramel Brule Latte
I am so happy red cups are here. The Carmel Brule Latte is amazing because it tastes like the holidays without being overly sweet. It is creamy and delicious and hands down my favorite speciality drink (even over a Pumpkin Spice Latte).
Listening: The Entire Michael Buble collection.
I am getting ready to take my six year old nephew for a date to see Michael Buble at the Honda Center on November 24th. As a result I am listening to Bubs non stop if I am in the car or at my desk at work.
Watching: Once Upon A Time
I am loving Once this season. I was not stoked about watching the show immediately when it aired last season but this season on Neverland, I can't wait to watch. We literally have not missed watching it on Sunday for weeks now. Peter Pan is such an amazing villain. I love how they have reinterpreted so many amazing fairytale characters and stories.
Craving: The Flirty from Sail to Sable
I love Navy and Black together (as you can see from this post) and I love that this style is the perfect holiday style, especially for us west coasters where it is still in the 80s today and its November. I am pretty sure I am gonna take the plunge and purchase this gem.
Dreaming: Of Making Dreams Happen.
I am trying to focus on making my near future dreams and goals happen and not get bogged down with the little nitty gritty stuff that can get in the way.

Reading: The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. I am on a classics kick lately and loving that Amazon gives you these for free!

Eating: Lots of blue salt water taffy. There was a candy bar at my friend Heather's baby shower this past weekend. As a result I am indulging in lots of blue candies this week.

Listening: The Very Best of Ray Charles. I love his smooth sound. Just For A Thrill is hands down my favorite Ray Charles song followed closely by Georgia On My Mind.

Watching: The Blacklist with James Spader. It is full of twists and turns and I am dying to know if Lizzie's husband is really harboring a secret or if it is just Spader's character manipulating her like he does the rest of the FBI.

Craving: Hard Cider is always my drink of choice, especially if its Magners or Strongbow. I have to have it over ice and it's such a great way to wind down after a long day.

Dreaming: I want to make a trip to Disneyland this holiday season because my favorite ride is only there from October to New Years. Disney turns The Haunted Mansion into The Nightmare Before Christmas, which is one of my favorite Disney movies and favorite Tim Burton movie ever. I wish they would leave it that way year round.
